Newby Quickens Pace, Places 53rd at NCAA Championships

(HANOVER, Ind.) - Carnegie Mellon University senior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) took to the cross country course at Hanover College on Saturday, November 23 for the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships. Newby's individual qualification to the championships marks his second appearance on the national stage after competing with the team in 2012.

Newby, a 2013 All-Mideast Region and All-University Athletic Association runner, finished the 8k course in 25:35.5 which placed him 53rd overall in the 275 person field. This place improved upon his 118th-place finish from the 2012 race.

St. Olaf College won the team championship by two points over North Central College while Michael LeDuc of Connecticut College won the race in a time of 24:29.3.
