Karee, Kiefel and Miller Repeat as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, Karee Receives Fourth Honor

For the third consecutive year the Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country and track and field had multiple athletes named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans. Graduate students Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y. / Notre Dame) and Bram Miller (Harmony, Pa. / Seneca Valley) along with senior Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) each landed a spot on the Men's Cross Country/Track and Field First Team. It marks Kiefel second straight honor on the top team while it is Karee’s and Miller’s first accolade on the first team. It is the fourth time Karee has been honored in his career after garnering second team recognition his junior season and third team honors after his sophomore campaign. Miller was named to the second team a year ago.

Graduate students Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y. / Notre Dame) and Bram Miller (Harmony, Pa. / Seneca Valley) along with seniors Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) and Michael OBroin ( Park Ridge, Ill. / Saint Ignatius College Prep) and sophomore Andrew McGovern (Lexington, Mass. / Lexington) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field and cross country teams have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as Men's Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District selections. The honor marks the fourth for Karee, third for Miller and second for Kiefel.

Six members of the Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team were named to the All-Academic team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In addition, the Tartans earned all-academic team accolades sporting a 3.53 cumulative average.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team closed the season with a 12th-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. The championships were hosted by Spalding University on the 8k course at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky. This marked the Tartans seventh straight team appearance at the championships and 14th in the last 15 years. It is the highest finish for the Tartans since placing 12th in 2009.

Carnegie Mellon University head men's cross country coach Tim Connelly was named NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year for the 2021 collegiate season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. It marks the third straight season Connelly has received the accolade and it comes following leading the 11th-ranked Tartans to their third consecutive regional title and sixth in school history.

Tartans Earn Third Straight Automatic Bid to NCAA Championships

By winning the 2021 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship this past Saturday, the Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team automatically qualified for the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships which will be hosted by Spalding University at the Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, November 20. It marks the Tartans seventh straight team appearance at the championships and 14th in the last 15 years.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team are regional champions once again, as they topped the Mid-Atlantic field for the third straight time after completing the 8k course at Big Springs High School in Newville, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 13.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team won the 2021 University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Cross Country Championship Saturday morning at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, New York. The Tartans placed five runners in the top 20 on the 8k course to win the race by 12 points over Washington University in St. Louis. The meet victory marks the sixth time in school history the Tartans have won the UAA Championships and the second straight.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team finished third at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College with 103 points. Leading the Tartans in the 35-team race on the 8k course was graduate student Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y. / Notre Dame).

Tartan Men Finish Second at Home Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team finished second at its annual home invitational on Saturday, October 9 in Schenley Park when neighbor Duquesne University taking the title with six of its men finishing in the top 10. The Tartans raced to three top 15 finishes along the 8k course after intermittent showers the past few days left a muddy and wet terrain.

Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team competed in the gold race at the Lehigh University Paul Short Invitational on Friday morning and placed 28th in a field of 37 teams. The Tartans were the second Division III team to finish on the 8k course in a field of Division I, II and III runners.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team won the Robert Morris Colonial Invitational on Friday afternoon. The event was held on the 8k course at Youthtowne in Clinton, Pennsylvania with the Tartans scoring 22 points and Division I Northern Kentucky University placing second with 57.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team started its 2021 season at the Yinzer Invitational held at Youthtowne in Clinton, Pennsylvania, on Friday evening. The field was comprised of runners from Division I, II and III with Duquesne, Pittsburgh, Robert Morris, Saint Francis (Pa.), Youngstown State and Seton Hill all competing with the Tartans. The men placed second with 34 points with Pittsburgh winning the event with 25.
