Five Selected to All-UAA Softball Team

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Five Carnegie Mellon University softball players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches with recognition on the 2020 UAA Softball All-Association Team. The Tartans played 12 games in Florida, going 7-5, before the season was stopped due to COVID-19. The second-year program was led offensively by Song and Hu who hit .400 and .394, respectively. Song amassed 14 hits in 35 at bats with three doubles and the team's only home run. The middle infielder and leadoff batter also led the team with nine stolen bases and nine runs scored. Hu led the team in RBIs with seven as she hit safely 13 times in 33 at bats. Also a middle infielder, Hu tied for second on the team in stolen bases with six and had a .967 fielding percentage.

Finger and Bruneau slotted into the second-year program's lineup with ease and finished the shortened season with batting averages of .355 and .341, respectively. The third baseman recorded 10 putouts and 18 assists with no errors. A lefty-slapper, Bruneau tied for the team lead in hits with 14, stole six bases, and scored six runs while knocking in three.

McGee made eight appearances in the pitching circle, with one complete game in four starts. She was second in the UAA in innings pitched with 38.0 but led the league in wins, strike outs, and ERA. Her 5-1 record brings her career win total to 13. McGee picked up three of her wins in relief and finished with an ERA of 2.03 with 42 total strikeouts for just more than one strikeout per inning pitched.
