Lawrence Rips Four Hits in 3-1 Win at Emory

(ATLANTA, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University softball team opened University Athletic Association (UAA) play with a win against Emory University on the road on Friday, March 29. The Tartans are now 7-6 overall while the Eagles hold a 14-7 record.

Inside the Box Score

  • In the top of the second, junior Allie Rome doubled to left field with a runner on first base. Sophomore Grace Fujino got all the way around the bases to score the first run of th game.
  • Freshman Allison Li reached on a fielder's choice in the fourth inning and later scored with two outs when junior Faith Lawrence hit her second double of the game to left field.
  • The Eagles plated a run in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly that also ended the inning when senior Kiera Boucher threw out Abby Sekoff trying to advance to third base.
  • The Tartans added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning when Lawrence recorded her fourth hit of the game and second RBI with a single with two outs that scored sophomore Koko Sagae who started the inning with a single.
  • The Eagles stranded three runners on base in the bottom of the seventh as sophomore Haley Pucci entered the game with one out and runners on first and third to record her first save.
