(SAN ANTONIO, Texas) - The Carnegie Mellon University softball team played a doubleheader against Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday, March 5. The Tartans dropped both games in five innings and are now 1-5 for the season while the Tigers move to 12-4.
Game 1 (L, 12-0)
- The Tartans put two runners on base via a walk and an error.
- Senior Allie Rome reached on an error by the first baseman in the second inning with two outs.
- Senior Abbey Reese led off the third inning with a walk and stole second but was stranded.
Game 2 (L, 13-3)
- The Tartans collected four hits in the game.
- Down 6-0 in the top of the third, graduate student Kiera Boucher reached on a bunt single with one out. After stealing second and a walk by junior Kira Monji, Boucher was driven home by a single up the middle by freshman Reagan Diamond.
- Trinity scored five more runs in the bottom of the third and two in the bottom of the fourth to lead 13-1.
- The Tartans added two runs in the top of the fifth when sophomore Lindsay Murai led off with an infield single and advanced to second when Boucher walked. Monji then doubled in both runners.
