Tartans Drop Two at Mary Hardin-Baylor

(Texas) – The Carnegie Mellon University softball team continued its road trip in Texas with a double header at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday, March 6. The Crusaders won both games, dropping the Tartans 5-0 in the first game and 10-5 in the second. The Tartans are now 1-7 on the season while the Crusaders move to 10-2.

Game 1

  • The Tartans had seven hits in the game and stranded a runner on base in each of the second through sixth innings.
  • Graduate student Kiera Boucher and sophomore Maddy Beall each had two hits.

Game 2

  • The home team scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning before the Tartans scored two in the top of the second.
  • Senior Libby Eichberger doubled in the two runs, plating Beall and freshman Reagan Diamond.
  • The Crusaders added two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 6-2 lead.
  • CMU scored once in the fourth when Beall led off with a walk and scored from first on a double by Diamond. Eichberger recorded her second hit in the game to move Diamond to third but the two were stranded.
  • The home team added runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
  • The Tartans comeback ended in the seventh after they scored two runs on an RBI single by Beall and an RBI double by Diamond.
