Tartans Earn Road Shutout Behind Three Goals from Ulizzi

(GAMBIER, Ohio.) – The fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team dominated at Kenyon College on Friday, September 27. The Tartans won with a score of 5-0, making them 6-0-3 for the season.

Inside the Box Score

  • Sophomore Saveria Ulizzi opened scoring for the Tartans with an unassisted goal in the third minute of the game.
  • The second goal of the game came from sophomore Audrey Bianco, assisted by Sophia Bastek in the seventh minute of the game, making the score 2-0 before the ten-minute mark.
  • After a blocked shot, the Tartans went up 3-0 in the 22nd minute of the game with a high left shot by Ulizzi that was assisted by Bianco.
  • Gradute student Cecelia Dieterich scored for the Tartans two minutes later with a low left shot, assisted by Ulizzi.
  • The final goal of the game came from another unassisted goal by Ulizzi, who scored on all three of her shots taken this game, making the final score 5-0.
  • The Tartans had a total 25 shots in the game with 13 being on goal versus Kenyon's three total shots with one on goal.
  • Sophomore Maddie Kellogg earned the win for the Tartans which is her second of the season.

Notes

  • Ulizzi now has two games this season with at least two goals and recorded her first career hat trick.
  • The last hat trick recorded by a Tartan was on October 23, 2021 when Alex Adams scored three times against Penn State Altoona.
  • Senior Alana Frederick also recorded a hat trick that year with three goals on September 3 against La Roche.
