Depth Leads to Victory for Tartans Against CWRU

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team hosted Case Western Reserve University for a dual meet on Saturday, November 2, topping the Spartans by a 161-139 score.
Top Performances
- Senior Katie Rock took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:54.66 with freshman Alexandra Scharpf taking second in 10:55.71.
- Freshman Yuchen Zhou won the 100-yard backstroke in 58.83 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:08.34. Senior Emma Hoffman placed second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:09.97.
- Junior Audrey Lambert was first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.77.
- Junior Audrey Soetanto took first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.27 with freshman Natalia Evans-Gibson placing second in 2:08.01.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Shaffer was first to touch in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.28 with junior Yitian Zhang touching second in 2:28.94 and senior Emma Kulbida taking third in 2:29.66.
- Junior Sophie Elliott finished the 500-yard freestyle first in 5:17.14 with freshman Angelina Sanna touching second in 5:19.25 and Rock third in 5:19.72.
- Sophomore Cat Bryan scored 272.17 points on the 1-meter board to place first and 242.95 points on the 3-meter board to place first.
