Tartans Earn 8 Personal Bests at Kenyon 

(GAMBIER, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team traveled to Kenyon College to compete in the Kenyon Fast Chance Invite on Saturday, February 22. The Tartans beat eight personal records and two school records. 

Top Performances

  • The relay team of junior Sophie Elliott, junior Audrey Lambert, junior Savannah Xu, and junior Grace Malinger won the 200-medley relay with a new school record time of 1:44.04.
  • Freshman Natalia Evans-Gibson beat her previous top time in the 100-yard butterfly during a time trial, finishing third in 56.44.
  • Placing second, Elliott earned a new best time of 2:03.98 in the 200-yard butterfly and made an NCAA cut. Freshman Alexandra Scharpf also surpassed her top time by six seconds, finishing in 2:06.81. 
  • Xu won the 100-yard backstroke in 55.92, earning a lifetime best and NCAA cut.
  • Freshman Allie Kim beat her previous top time in the 100-yard breaststroke, earning second place with a time of 1:05.60.
  • Sophomore Elizabeth Shaffer earned a lifetime best in the 200-yard breaststroke with an NCAA cut time of 2:19.35.
  • Malinger swam a personal best and split school record time of 23.19 during the 200-yard medley relay 50 free leg.
