Tartan Women Finish Play at ITA Cup

(ROME, Ga) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis program completed competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia, over the weekend. Freshman Ancele Dolensek competed in singles with Junior Anna Chow and freshman Shelly Zinchenko playing doubles.
Dolensek opened the event with a 6-4, 6-1 over Cassidy Binder of Pacific University. She then dropped a three-set match by the scores of 6-1, 3-6, and 6-1 to second seed Emily Kantrovitz of Emory University. In the fifth-place match, Dolensek fell to Victoria Wang of NYU by the scores of 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles play, Chow and Zinchenko dropped their first match 6-2, 6-1 to Ella Brissett and Alisha Chulani of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The tandem then lost 6-2, 6-3 to Molly Austin and Allison Szalay of Gustavus Adolphus College before closing play with a 6-2, 6-2 setback to the duo from Skidmore College of Konika Dhulla and Grace Truong.
That concludes play for the women's tennis team for the fall season with their next competition scheduled for January 25 with a dual match against Duquesne University.
