#12 Tartans Defeat Division II Slippery Rock 4-3

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 12th in Division III, play Division II Slippery Rock University on Friday night. The Tartans won 4-3 and are now 3-0 in dual action while Slippery Rock is 0-2.

Inside the Results:

  • Slippery Rock won the point in doubles, winning all three spots.
  • Freshman Victoria Gazda knotted the score a 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-4 win at six singles.
  • Slippery Rock then won at five singles to retake the lead before junior Divya Venkatarama won at the fourth spot 6-4, 6-3 and classmate Shelly Zinchenko won 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at the two spot to give the Tartans a 3-2 edge.
  • Freshman Ancele Dolensek then sealed the win with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 win at here singles.

  • The Tartans will next compete on Saturday, February 22 when they play Denison and Otterbein.
