Tartans Sweep Two Opponents

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team swept through North Central College and Transylvania University on Saturday, March 8 in Orlando, Florida. The Tartans are now 11-0 for the season.

Against North Central

  • The third doubles team of freshman Shelly Zinchenko and junior Manuela Van Cotthem and the second doubles team of freshman Ancele Dolensek and junior Divya Venkatarama won by 6-2 scores.
  • Junior Anika Joshi won 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles while Venkatarama won by the same score at fourth singles to give the Tartans a 3-0 lead.
  • Dolensek then won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles to secure the win.

Against Transylvania

  • Joshi and freshman Rachel Li won at second doubles by a 6-1 score ahead of sophomore Anika Hou and freshman Victoria Gazda at third doubles with a 6-0 win.
  • Li finished singles play first with a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles.
  • Senior Zoe Angell won at fourth singles by a 6-0, 6-1 score before Van Cotthem won at third singles, 6-1, 6-1.
