#8 Tartans Takedown John Carroll at Home
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked eighth in Division III, hosted John Carroll University Wednesday afternoon and defeated the Blue Streak 7-0. The Tartans are now 19-2 in dual action while John Carrol is 8-4.
Inside the Results:
- Carnegie Mellon swept doubles play to collect the point. Senior Zoe Angell and junior Anna Chow won 6-3 at one, the second doubles team of freshman Ancele Dolensek and junior Divya Venkatarama won 6-1 while the Cardianla nd Gray third tandem of junior Anika Joshi and freshman Rachel Li won 6-0.
- Freshman Shelly Zinchenko claimed the first point of singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top spot followed by a 6-2, 6-1 from Venkatarama at four.
- The match was sealed when junior Manuela Van Cotthem won 6-2, 6-0 at six singles.
- Also collecting wins in singles play were senior Sarah Yang, Dolensek and freshman Victoria Gazda.
Inside the Results:
- Zinchenko and Dolensek now have 29 singles wins this season tying the single-season program recorded held by Danna Taylor (2018-19) and Laura Chen (2010-11).
