Lindsey Wins Steeplechase as Tartans Place Seventh at Westminster Invitational
(NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team traveled to Westminster College to compete at the Westminster Invitational on Saturday, April 14. The Tartans finished seventh out of 23 teams and third amongst Division III teams with 33 points.
Sophomore Emmalyn Lindsey (Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:09.49 to lead the Tartans.
Sophomore Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) earned a second-place finish in the pole vault after tying her career-best by clearing 3.65 meters.
Junior Alexa Barriero (Middletown, N.J. / Middletown North) took sixth in the javelin throw with a mark of 34.80 meters.
Freshman Isabelle Chickanosky (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Joseph's Academy) earned a fifth-place showing in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:06.03. Fellow freshman Parvathi Meyyappan (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) also placed fifth on Saturday when she finished the 5,000-meter run in 18:56.83.
