Barre Named UAA Field Athlete of the Week
(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Liz Barre of the Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events following her performance at the Bucknell University Bison Opener in the pentathlon.
Barre placed third in the pentathlon with 3,367 points. The senior took second in the high jump, shot put and 60-meter hurdles while breaking the school record in the high jump. She cleared the bar at 1.67 meters in the high jump which topped her previous school record height of 1.66 meters set last season along with Jessica Meng who cleared 1.66 meters in 2007. She currently ranks tops nationally in the pentathlon and high jump.
The Tartans will compete again at the Youngstown State University Collegiate Invitational presented by Southwoods Health on Friday, January 20 before taking part in the Spire Midwest Open on Saturday, January 21.
