Barre Garners Second UAA Field Athlete of the Week Accolade

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – For the second time this season, senior Liz Barre of the Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events. The senior earns the honor following her performance at the SPIRE Midwest Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, January 21.

Barre broke her own school record in the high jump, as she placed first after clearing the bar at 1.71 meters, which topped her previous school record height of 1.67 meters set early this season. Barre also turned in a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 9.06. She currently ranks second nationally in the high jump and tops in the UAA while her 60-meter hurdle time is tied for second best in the UAA.

The Tartans will compete again at the Muskingum University on January 28.
