Tartans Host Last Chance Meet

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team hosted CMU Last Chance meet on Thursday at Gesling Stadium with competitors from Chatham University, Duquesne University, University of Pittsburgh and Point Park University joining the Tartans.

Top Performances on the Track:

  • The 1,500-meter run had four sophomores Tartans compete with Lauren May and Avery Tompkins in the event for the first time in their collegiate career. May posted a time of 5:04.09 and Tompkins 5:06.82.
  • Senior Liz Barre ran the 100-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 14.51.
  • Junior Isabella Rhee crossed the line in a personal-best time of 58.68 in the 400-meter race and placed third.   
  • A season-best time of 2:17.85 was run by freshman Jacqueline Liu in the 800-meter run as she finished third.
  • Senior Samantha Giordani ran a season-best time of 24.88 and finished fourth in the 200-meter dash.

Top Performances in the Field:

  • Junior JoJo Huczko won the pole vault with a season-best height of 3.25 meters.
  • In the long jump, freshman Iniyaa Mohanraj recorded a season-best jump of 5.07 meters to place second.
  • Sophomore Jocelyn Kiefel took third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.72 meters.
  • Senior Ola Owodunni recorded a personal-best throw in the hammer of 47.97 meters and placed fourth.

Up Next:

  • The Tartans will have a few athletes competing at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday and Sunday prior to the University Athletic Association Outdoor Championships on April 22-23 at the University of Chicago.
