Barre Earns Two All-America Honors at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) – Graduate student Liz Barre of the Carnegie Mellon University women's outdoor track and field team earned All-America recognition in two events at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. The championships are being held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Barre's Performance:

  • Barre completed the final three events of the heptathlon Friday and ended with a school record 5,045 points to place third. She topped her previous school record of 5,017 points set last year.
  • Barre started the day placing fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.45 meters. She then took 13th in the javelin with a throw of 27.47 meters.
  • Barre closed the championships with a personal-best time of 2:29.42 in the 800-metr run of the heptathlon and placed 14th.
  • During the long jump of the heptathlon, Barre also competed in the high jump and placed third clearing the bar at 1.71 meters.

Notes:

  • The All-American honors for Barre are her first of her career for the outdoor season.
  • Barre now has seven All-American honors for her career with five coming at the indoor championships (three pentathlon and two high jump).
