Tartans Begin Indoor Season at Bucknell and Mount Union

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team opened its 2024-2025 season competing at two different meets over the weekend. One athlete traveled to Bucknell University for the Bison Open while the rest of the team competed at the University of Mount Union for the Toy Drive Invite.

Top Performances at Bucknell

  • Freshman Alin Aydogan competed in the pentathlon placing third out of 10 athletes comprised of Division I, II, and III institutions with 2,913 points.
  • Aydogan was first in the high jump, clearing 1.49 meters, and first in the shot put, with a mark of 11.44 meters. Her distance of 5.09 meters in the long jump was third while her 60-meter hurdle time of 9.51 seconds was fifth and her 800-meter run time of 2:54.38 was tenth.

Top Performances at Mount Union

  • In the 3,000-meter race, senior Alyssa Hoffman placed first in 10:44.20 with sophomore Kara Mathias placing third in 11:05.62.
  • The Tartans swept the mile run with senior Hayley Kilgore placing first in 5:33.09. Senior Lauren May was second in 5:36.04 and sophomore Adelaide Hall was third in 5:42.20.
  • Senior Rhythm Satav ran the 500-meter run and won in a time of 1:23.36.
  • Freshman Estee Teo was victorious in the 800-meter run in 2:32.22.
  • Sophomore Hazel Buonopane cleared 3.40 meters in the pole vault to win.
  • Freshman Catalina Howells won the high jump after clearing 1.52 meters.
  • Senior Jocelyn Kiefel took first in the triple jump with a mark of 10.91 meters.
