Tartans Compete at Opening Day of UAA Indoor Championships

(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships on Saturday. The two-day championship meet is being hosted by the University of Chicago. The Tartans have 12 points and are currently sixth heading into the final day.

Top Performances in the Field:

  • Senior Katie Monahan placed seventh in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 13.83 meters.
  • Freshman Ava Barnes cleared the bar at 3.33 meters with sophomore Hazel Buonopane also clearing it at 3.33 meters to place seventh and eighth, respectively, in the pole vault.

Top Performances on the Track:

  • The 5,000-meter run saw the Tartans place seventh and eighth. Sophomore Maya Ducker crossed in 17:41. 97 and classmate Ananya Devpura crossed in 17:47.15, both times were personal-bests.
  • Junior Iniyaa Mohanraj qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.85 seconds.
