Tartans Post Multiple Personal-Best Finishes at Annual Invite

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team hosted its annual Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Gesling Stadium. The Tartans turned in multiple personal-best finishes in a field comprised of Division I, II and III institutions.

Top Performances on the Track:

  • Sophomore Maya Ducker ran a personal-best time of 17:26.58 in the 5,000-meter run and crossed in third place with sophomore Ananya Devpura placing seventh with a time of 17:54.50.
  • Junior Margaret Ann Healy took third in the 1,500-meter run as she crossed in a personal-best time of 4:43.84.
  • The 3,000-meter run had the Tartans place fifth and sixth, respectively. Senior Avery Tompkins crossed in 14:42.24 while freshman Allison Fan finished in 14:43.66.
  • A personal-best time of 16.02 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles was recorded by junior Iniyaa Mohanraj as she placed eighth.
  • Freshman Emma Horsley placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.52.

Top Performances in the Field:

  • Senior Hazel Buonopane took fourth in the pole vault clearing the bar at a personal-best height of 3.51 meters while freshman Ava Barnes placed fifth clearing the bar at 3.36 meters.
  • Freshman Catalina Howells turned in a fourth place showing in the high jump where she cleared the bar at 1.53 meters.
  • Senior Jocelyn Kiefel and Mohanraj placed in the top eight of the triple jump. Kiefel placed seventh at 11.13 meters while Mohanraj placed eighth at 11.02 meters.
  • Senior Katie Monahan tossed the hammer 42.30 meters and placed seventh.
  • Graduate student Aiyana Rockwell recorded a throw of 38.65 meters in the discus and placed sixth.

  • The Tartans will next compete at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University on Saturday, April 5.
