Tartans Finish Fifth at UAA Outdoor Championships

(NEW YORK, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team finished fifth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championships hosted by New York University at the Icahn Stadium in New York on Sunday, April 27. The Tartans recorded 63.50 points. 

Top Performances on the Track

  • The 4x100-meter relay team of junior Iniyaa Mohanraj, freshman Catherine Stava, senior Jocelyn Kiefel, and freshman Alin Aydogan finished the race in a time of 51.58, earning fifth place.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of senior Sunny Tang, freshman Emma Horsley, junior Jackie Liu, and Stava finished in a time of 4:06.73, also earning fifth place.
  • Mohanraj also landed a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.93. Aydogan finished shortly behind in eighth place with a time of 16.42. 
  • Liu completed the 800-meter run in 2:16.97, moving from seventh to fourth in the last 400 meters. 

 Top Performances in the Field 

  • In the high jump, freshman Catalina Howells cleared 1.48 meters, putting her in seventh place. 
  • Kiefel and Mohanraj were fifth and seventh in the triple jump with marks of 11.29 meters and 11.23 meters, respectively. 
  • Mohanraj also earned points in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.35 meters.
  • Senior Jolie Wasserman's mark of 33.84 meters in the javelin throw landed her a seventh-place finish.
