Yan Earns UAA Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Junior setter Stella Yan (Coppell, Texas/Coppell) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week following her performance over the weekend. Yan helped the Tartans to a 2-1 showing the Tartans home quad over the weekend.

Yan recorded three double-doubles and finished the weekend with 98 assists, 31 digs, 11 kills and hit .423 in nine sets played. In the Tartans opener Friday night, a 3-0 win over Mary Washington, Yan finished with 43 assists and 10 digs. She then started play Saturday with 26 assists and 11 digs in the Tartans 3-0 win over SUNY-Geneseo. The setter finished play at the quad by recording 29 assists and 10 digs in the Cardinal and Gray's 3-0 setback to Wittenberg.

Two weekends ago, Yan became the 10th Tartan to record 1,000 career assist. The junior currently has 1,198 assists for her career and ranks 10th on the program's all-time list.

The Tartans will next head to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, and start the tournament against Washington University in St. Louis at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5.
