Tartans Compete in Second Day of Randolph-Macon Invite

(ASHLAND, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team competed in the second day of the Randolph-Macon Invite on Saturday. The Tartans faced both Washington and Lee, losing 3-2, and Randolph-Macon, winning 3-0.

Inside the Box Score Against Washington and Lee

  • The Tartans won the first set 25-20. The Generals took the second and third sets 25-23 and 25-20. The Tartans tied things up in the fourth set, winning 26-24. The Generals won the fifth set 15-12, winning the match.
  • The Tartans hit .147 and the Generals hit .130.
  • Graduate student Laura Reichard led the team's offense with 23 kills. Junior Elizabeth Schlemmer also had 16 kills. The Tartans had a total of 67 kills.
  • Junior Katherine Jackson and freshman Izzy Saffert both had two serving aces.
  • Junior Julianna McFarland had four blocks.
  • Sophomore Neha Tummala handed out 54 assists.
  • Reichard had 35 digs, Tummala had 32 and senior Abby Chen had 30.

  • The Tartans won 3-0, with set scores of 25-22, 25-13, and 25-20.
  • The Tartans hit .206 and the Yellow Jackets hit .027.
  • Jackson led the team's offense with eight kills.
  • Both Chen and Tummala had three serving aces.
  • Tummala registered 26 assists.
  • Sophomore Zoe Gavros had 14 digs, and Schlemmer had 12.
