Tartans Earn Third Straight NCAA Championship Bid
(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – For the third straight season, the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team will compete for a national championship after receiving an at-large bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship. The Tartans are making their fourth appearance in the national tournament under the direction of six-year head coach Anne Bock, and the 10th overall appearance in program history.
The Tartans, who finished the regular season with an overall record of 19-11 and placed fifth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Volleyball Championship.
Carnegie Mellon will travel to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, for an eight-team regional. The Tartans will open the tournament against SUNY Cortland (26-5), winners of the State University of New York Athletic Conference, on Thursday, November 21 at a time to be announced.
Should the Tartans advance, they'll face the winner of Johns Hopkins (29-2) or Bridgewater St. (13-9) on Friday, November 22. Smith (30-6) will play Endicott (22-7) in the opening round with the winner facing the winner of Ithaca (22-6) versus Lasell (30-5). The second-round winners will play on Saturday, November 23.
The championship final weekend will be held December 4-7 at the Cregger Center in Salem, Virginia, with the City of Salem and Old Dominion Athletic Conference serving as hosts.
