Carnegie Mellon Hires Brandon Bowman to Lead Men’s Soccer Program

Carnegie Mellon University Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation Josh Centor has announced the hire of 13-year head coaching veteran Brandon Bowman as the next leader of the nationally-recognized Tartans’ men’s soccer program following a national search. Bowman becomes the 10th head coach in Carnegie Mellon men’s soccer history and will begin his post on August 1, replacing Arron Lujan who stepped down in January after six years to take a job with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

Senior Matt Sarett (Huntersville, N.C./Cannon) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Sarett will receive a one-time, nonrenewable grant of $7,500 to be used for part-time or full-time postgraduate study at a university or professional school.

Carnegie Mellon University Interim Director of Athletics Josh Centor has announced that head men’s soccer coach Arron Lujan is stepping down after six years at the helm of the Tartans, effective March 5, 2014. Lujan has accepted a position with the United States Soccer Federation.

For the second straight year, four Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer players were named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men’s All-Great Lakes Region Team. Seniors Matt Sarett (Huntersville, N.C./Cannon) and Max Tassano (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) were named to the second team while seniors Ben Bryant (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) and Chris Wysocki (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) were named to the third team.

For the third straight year and fifth under six-year head coach Arron Lujan, Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer players are receiving national accolades for their achievements in the classroom and on the field. Seniors Matt Sarett (Huntersville, N.C./Cannon) and Ben Bryant (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-America team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the second year with senior Christopher Madden (Reisterstown, Md./Calvert Hall) earning the honor for the first time.

The win marks the Tartans fourth straight first round win and advances them to the second round with an overall record of 12-2-3.
