Blacker Named to D3football.com Team of the Week; Receives UAA Weekly Special Teams Honors

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Skyler Blacker (Lake Bluff, Ill./Libertyville) was recognized nationally on the D3football.com Team of the Week and also was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Special Teams Athlete of the Week following his play Saturday in the Tartans' 23-19 setback at Westminster.

Blacker recorded two blocked kicks. The first came on the Titans first score of the afternoon, as Blacker broke through the line and blocked the point-after-attempt to leave the score 6-0. His second block came at the end of the half, as Westminster attempted to extend its lead to two scores, but Blacker put a hand on a 44-yard field goal try to leave the score 16-10.

It marked the first time a Tartan has recorded two blocked kicks in a game since Drew Fitzmorris blocked a point-after-attempt and field goal on November 22, 2015 in the Tartans' 48-13 ECAC Bowl win over Bridgewater State.

The Tartans will be back on the gridiron on Saturday, November 10 in the 33rd Academic Bowl against Case Western Reserve University. Kick is set for 5:30 p.m. in Cleveland, Ohio.
