Brod Named to D3football.com Team of the Week; Receives PAC Weekly Defensive Honors

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Sam Brod (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) was recognized nationally on the D3football.com Team of the Week and also was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week following his play Saturday in the Tartans' 31-6 win at Geneva College.

Brod headed a defense that held the Golden Tornadoes to 179 yards of total offense. It marked the 15th straight win for the Tartans when holding their opponents to under 300 yards of total offense. The junior posted a career-best eight tackles while recording 1.5 sacks for a loss of 14 yards.

Carnegie Mellon will open its home season on Saturday, September 21 with a 1:00 p.m. kick against 15th-ranked Washington and Jefferson College.
