Three Football Players Named Academic All-America

Three Carnegie Mellon University football athletes were honored with selections to the 2024 Academic All-America football teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators. Graduate student linebacker Robert Coury and junior placekicker Justin Caputo were selected to the first team with graduate student linebacker Thomas Coury garnering second team accolades. This is the third straight year that the Coury’s have earned the distinction.
Tartans Impress Once Again in Classroom During Fall Semester

The fall athletics season was highlighted by five team NCAA Championship appearances and eight nationally ranked winter and spring teams, while the Tartans excelled in the classroom. An impressive 163 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, and 59% earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
64 Carnegie Mellon Football Players Recognized on PAC Academic Fall Honor Roll

The Carnegie Mellon University football team landed 64 members on the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2024 semester. Of the 64, 34 maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the first semester.

Graduate students linebacker Robert Coury and defensive back Adrian Williams of the Carnegie Mellon University football team have been honored on the 2024 D3football.com All-America team. After finding a spot on the second team the previous two seasons, Coury was named to the first team this season while Williams is making his first trip to the team and was named to the fourth team.

Carnegie Mellon University graduate student linebacker Robert Coury has been announced as one of five finalists for the 2024 Gagliardi Trophy, presented by Stearns Bank and the J-Club of Saint John's University (Minn.). The award is presented to the most outstanding football player in NCAA Division III.
Robert Coury Garners Third AP All-America Honor

Graduate student linebacker Robert Coury of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was named to the Division III Associate Press (AP) First Team. This is the third straight season he has been honored as he claimed first team honors in 2022 and second team accolades a year ago. This is also Coury’s second All-America honor this season as he landed a spot on the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' All-America second team earlier this month.

66th National Football Foundation Annual Awards Dinner to be Broadcast on ESPN+

The 2024 National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame's 66th Annual Awards Dinner, where Carnegie Mellon University graduate student linebacker Robert Coury will be recognized as a NFF Scholar-Athlete, will be streamed live on ESPN+ available everywhere via the ESPN app. The decorated event, which has one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports, will be held Tuesday, December 10 at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas with the live stream from 6:00 p.m. PST to 9:00 p.m. PST.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team, ranked 13th nationally, traveled to Alliance, Ohio on Saturday for a third-round showdown in the 2024 NCAA Division III Football Tournament against fifth-ranked University of Mount Union. A gritty back-and-forth game marked by tough ground game found the Purple Raiders outlasting the Tartans 24-19 to bring Carnegie Mellon’s 2024 campaign to a close. The Tartans finished the season with a share of the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) title and a trip to the Round of 16 in the Division III playoffs.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team, ranked 13th nationally, hosted the Colonels of Centre College in a second round NCAA Division III playoff matchup on Saturday at Gesling Stadium. A game full of snow flurries and staunch run defenses culminated in a gritty 24-15 victory as the Tartans kept their postseason alive.
