Serbin Lands Third Straight Spot on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – For the third consecutive season, Carnegie Mellon University senior Jack Serbin (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Serbin is one of five players on the District 4 team. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.

Carnegie Mellon is part of District 4 that is comprised of all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania. Serbin will now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America recognition, an honor he received the past two seasons. He was named to the second team a year ago after garnering third team honors his sophomore season.

Serbin currently ranks first in the University Athletic Association (UAA) and 15th nationally averaging 11.4 rebounds per contest. He also leads the Tartans and is second in the UAA in scoring with 17.1 points per game and free throw percentage at 84.5%, converting 93-of-110 attempts.  The senior has recorded 12 double-doubles this season, which also leads the UAA and ranks 16th nationally, while tying his career-high of 20 rebounds this season.

Serbin has led the team in scoring the past three seasons and last year became the 19th Tartan to reach the 1,000-point milestone.  He currently has 1,415 points, ranking second all-time in program history. He also ranks second all-time with 177 blocks and is third in rebounding with 863 boards.

In the classroom, Serbin carries a 3.77 GPA as a business administration major. He has made Dean's List with high honors every semester and is a member of the Carnegie Mellon Tepper Finance Group. He has spent the past two summers as a financial analyst for L Brands and an investment banking analyst for Jefferies LLC.
