Howarth Named All-UAA Second Team

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore Zach Howarth (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vianney) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Team as the Association announced its postseason accolades on Wednesday, February 28. Howarth lands a spot on the second.

Howarth appeared in all 25 games this season for the Tartans with 21 starts. He led the team in scoring, averaging 13.7 points per contest, ranking seventh in the UAA. In 13 of the 14 UAA contests, he scored in double figures, which led to the second highest league average at 16.7 points a game. He registered three games scoring 25 points or more including a career-high 26 at Brandeis. Howarth was second on the team with 51 assists and 17 steals.

The sophomore guard converted a career-best 10 field goals against nationally ranked Emory where he scored 25 points. He also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds against Brandeis. Howarth shot 81.1% from the foul line in UAA play, ranking third, and finished the season connecting on 15 straight from charity stripe.
