Bangor Claims Individual Medalist as Tartans Win Titan Invitational

(NEW CASTLE, Pa.) – Sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) claimed top individual medalist as the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team won the 2012 Titan Invitational hosted by Westminster College at the New Castle Country Club Monday, March 26.  The Tartans fired a team score of 313, finishing nine strokes ahead of second-place Clarion University.  

Bangor ended the round carding a one-over par 73 followed by senior Michael Cheng (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) in second-place with a 77.  Senior Terence Einhorn (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) shot an 81 while sophomore Grant Strimel (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) an 82.  Freshman Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) rounded out the Tartans team scoring with an 84.

The Tartans enter two individual golfers into play Monday, as freshman Derek Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) carded an 82 and sophomore Matt Wilson (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) shot a 93
