Bangor Becomes All-Time Wins Leader With Victory at Spring Invitational

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) claimed top medalist at the Tartans' Spring Invitational Thursday, April 26 at the Longue Vue Club, after carding a one-over par 71. Bangor's victory marked the sixth of his career, as he becomes the school's all-time wins leader.

Bangor's performance helped Carnegie Mellon earn a second-place team finish with a score of 309. California University of Pennsylvania won the invitational after firing a team round of 294.

Senior's Terence Einhorn (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) and Michael Cheng (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) ended their collegiate careers with rounds of 75 and 80, respectively.  Einhorn's 75 placed him fifth in the field.

Freshman Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) carded an 83 while sophomore Grant Strimel (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) shot an 85.

Carnegie Mellon also had six individuals play on Thursday with freshman Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) leading the way with an 80. Sophomore Alex Fry (Grand Island, N.Y.) entered the clubhouse with an 82 while freshman Derek Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) was one stroke behind with an 83. Sophomore Matt Wilson (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) shot an 86, sophomore Jisoo Park (Dix Hills, N.Y./Pendleton) ended the day with an 88 and freshman Austin Cheng (Chester, N.J./Phillips Exeter Academy) shot a 91.
