Einhorn Cards Par in Final Round of Jekyll Island Invitational

(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team finished 26th out of 30 teams at the 2012 Jekyll Island Invitational Sunday, March 18.  The three-day, 54-hole event was held at the par-72 Pine Lakes and Indian Mound courses on Jekyll Island.  The Tartans finished with a team score of 938 (304-326-308).  Their best round came Friday afternoon as they fired a 304.

Capturing the invitational title was Methodist with a score of 858 while Oglethorpe finished second (870) and University Athletic Association foe Emory University took third carding an 872.  

Senior Terence Einhorn (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) finished the three-round tournament with a score of 226. He carded his best round of the event on Sunday, as he shot even par after carding rounds of 74 and 80.  Senior Michael Cheng (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) ended four strokes behind Einhorn with a 230 (73-82-75) while Sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) finished with a 240 (79-81-80).

Freshman Derek Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) recorded a 246 (82-83-81) and sophomore Grant Strimel (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) ended the event with a 250 (78-84-88).  

The Tartans will be back on the course Monday, March 26, as they compete at the Titan Spring Invitational hosted by Westminster College.
