DuCarme Top Tartan at First Round of Hershey Cup

(HERSHEY, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team currently is in fourth-place at the 15-team Hershey Cup following the first round of play in the 36-hole tournament.  On Sunday, the Tartans fired a team score of 318 on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club. The two-day event is being hosted by the University of Rochester.

In brutal wind conditions there were only 19 golfers out of 80 that broke 80 on Sunday.  Carnegie Mellon's freshman Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and sophomore Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) were two of those 19.  DuCarme currently sits in third-place after carding a 76 while Low fired a 78.

Junior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) carded an 81 in the opening round with the windy conditions as sophomore Derek Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) had a round of 83. Sophomore Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) rounded out the Tartans team with an 87.
