Tartans Place Third at Hershey Cup

(HERSHEY, Pa.) - At the final day of the Hershey Cup, the Carnegie Mellon University golf team improved 19 strokes from day one to finish with a 36-hole total of 617 (318-299) to place third out of 15 teams.  The two-day event hosted by the University of Rochester was played on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club

St. John Fisher shot rounds of 311 and 293 to take home first place with a 604 followed by Rochester, who was one stroke better than the Tartans with a 616.

Freshman Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) led the Tartans with a 36-hole score of 151(76-75) to tie for fifth-place.  Junior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) improved nine strokes on Monday firing a one-over par 72 to end the tournament in ninth-place with a 153 (81-72).

Sophomore Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) carded a 155 (78-77) while  fellow sophomore Derek Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) rebounded on Monday to finish three stroke behind Low a 158 (83-75). Sophomore Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) rounded out the Tartans team with a 169 (87-82).

The Tartans return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14 as they host the Annual Edward Jones Shootout.  The two-day event will be held at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pa.
