Tartans Card a 298 on Day One at Mercyhurst Invitational

(ERIE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team currently is in second-place following the first round of the Mercyhurst University Invitational that was played on Sunday, September 29. The Tartans fired a team score of 298 on the par-72 course at Lake View Country Club. The University of Toronto had the low team round of the day with a 287.

Sophomore Ben DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) continued his hot play this fall, as he led the Tartans with an even par 72 on Sunday afternoon.  Freshmen George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) and Ryan Karbowicz (Avon, Conn.) both carded a three-over par 75.  Senior Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) fired a 76 while junior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward), ended the first 18 holes with a 78.

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as junior Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) had a round of 78.

Day two continues Monday, September 30 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
