Qian Places 30th at NCAA Championships

(HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.) – Senior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the final round of the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships on Friday, May 19. Qian placed tied for 30th in a field of 215 golfers at the four-round event held at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Qian ended the championships carding a 300 after entering the clubhouse on Friday with a 78 on the par-72, 6,844-yard El Campeón Course. He opened play on Tuesday with a 76 before shooting an even par 72 on the Las Colinas Course Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, after the field was cut to the top 18 teams and six individuals not on an advancing team, the senior carded a 74 on El Campeón.

Qian's finish of 30th at the national event marks the highest individual finish in program history.
