Short Feature with Men's Golf Freshman Jason Li

Freshman Jason Li answers a few questions about student life at Carnegie Mellon and what he's excited for during spring semester.

1. What do you enjoy about campus life? What do you get involved in outside of men's golf?

Despite CMU being a relatively small school and campus, it still feels large enough where I'm interacting with new people every day. It's really neat meeting people of all different backgrounds. I also participate on an IM soccer and basketball team.

2. What are you excited about for this year?

I'm looking forward to an exciting spring semester. After an amazing fall golf season, I'm excited for what is in store for the golf team in the spring. Hopefully, we can keep climbing up the rankings and ultimately get a bid to the NCAA National Championship.

3. Why did you select your course of study – what class are you looking forward to most this year?

I'm a business major and still determining what I want to concentrate in and what my minor will eventually be. I'm looking forward to exploring everything that Tepper and CMU has to offer and finding out what really interests me. I look forward to taking 15-112: Fundamentals of Programming in the spring as I've heard nothing but great things about the course.

5. What class has been recommended by your teammates or friends as a MUST TAKE class at CMU?

15-112: Fundamentals of Programming seems to be the class everybody is raving about. It sounds like there's a huge work load for the class but it's also very rewarding and teaches a skill that'll be useful in the future.

6. When not golfing or studying, what do you enjoy doing?

Outside of golf and academics, I love playing sports and staying active. I especially love playing basketball. I played all throughout high school and it has always been a great way for me to stay active during the winter. You'll probably find me playing pickup basketball in Wiegand a couple times a week.
