Men’s Golf Receives Academic Accolades for 2017-18 Season

(NORMAN, Okla.) – The 2017-18 Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team was one of 34 NCAA Division III institutions who received the All-Academic Team award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Tartans finished the year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.25.

New Mexico (Division I), Bellarmine (Division II), Swarthmore (Division III), Bethel (KS) (NAIA), Dodge City (NJCAA DI) and South Mountain (NJCAA DII) have been named 18Birdies Academic National Champions for their respective divisions, announced the GCAA. South Mountain posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.78.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year. Including all divisions (NCAA I, II, III and NAIA) a record number of 222 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn 18Birdies All-Academic Team recognition.
