Men's Golf Continues Play at NCAA Championships

(WHEELING, W.Va.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team played the par-71, 6,857-yard Speidel Jones Course in the third round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday at the Oglebay Resort & Conference Center in Wheeling, West Virginia. The Tartans carded a team score of 302 and have a 54-hole score of 893 (+45) and are in sixth heading into the final round on Friday morning.

Illinois Wesleyan University continues to lead the championship field after three rounds of play with a 863 (+15).

Senior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) led the Tartans Thursday with a two-over par 73 and now has a score of 219 (74-72-73) over three rounds and is in tied for fifth individually in a field of 191 golfers with senior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest). Folker ended play Thursday with a 76 to go along with his rounds of 71 and 72.

Junior Henry Scavone (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) turned in a round of 75 and has a 54-hole score of 228 (79-74-75) which is tied with classmate William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area). Knauth carded a third round score of 78 after opening play Tuesday with a 77 and carded a 73 Wednesday. Senior Ben Huber (Hampton, Pa./Hampton) carded an 82 and has a 241 (78-81-82).

The Tartans will compete in the final round on Friday, with Huber set to tee off at 8:20 a.m.
