Knauth Cards Second Straight Six-Under Par Round at the 2021 Golfweek DIII Fall Invite

(MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team finished play at the 2021 Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Tuesday, shooting a team score of one-under par 283. The Tartans finished 10th out of 24 teams with a score of 886 (311-292-283). The three-day event took place at the par 71, 6,635-yard Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida.

Emory University fired eight-under par 276 Tuesday to win the event with a total of 12-under par 840 (287-277-276). Caleb Kimbrough of Averett University won the individual medalist honors with an eight-under par 205 (67-72-66).

Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area), who carded 18 birdies for the 54-hole event, placed tied for second individually in a field of 120 golfers with a 206 (76-65-65). His 206 marked the third lowest 54-hole score in program history. Knauth ended the fall season shooting par or better in nine of his 12 rounds. On Tuesday, he shot his second straight round of six-under par 65 which is the lowest individual round in the program's history.

Senior Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) shot a one-under par 70 in the final round for a 219 (71-78-70). Sophomore Brian Xu (San Diego, Calif. / Torrey Pines) tied his collegiate-low round for the second straight day with a two-over par 73 in the final round and ended with a 230 (84-73-73).

Senior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) ended his fall season with a four-over par 75 and had a 54-hole score of 241 (89-77-75). Freshman Justin Chan (London, United Kingdom) carded an 81 Tuesday and shot a 238 (80-77-81) over the three-round event.

The Tartans will be off until the spring when they compete in the Savannah Invitational at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Georgia March 7-8.
