Tartans Tied for Second at NCAA Preview

(NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team concluded play at the 54-hole NCAA Preview Tuesday on the Champions Trace Course at the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The Cardinal and Gray carded a 296 for the final round and placed tied for second with a 900 (305-299-296).

How it Happened:

  • Graduate student Henry Scavone tied for fourth individually in a field of 90. He fired a two-over par 74 Tuesday and ended with a 219 (72-73-74).
  • Freshman David Zhang and sophomore Justin Chan both carded their best round of the preview in the final round, as they each entered the clubhouse with an even par 72.  
  • Zhang (80-74-72) tied junior Brian Xu (75-73-78) for 20th overall with a 54-hole score of 226.
  • Chan ended the preview with a 229 (78-79-72).
  • Senior Joshua Lim shot 257 (83-82-92) over the 54 holes.

  • Carnegie Mellon will be back on the links October 16-18 when the play in the Golfweek Fall Preview. The three-day event is being held at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort's Baytowne Golf Club in Destin, Florida.
