(BOULDER CITY, Nev.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play at the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday in Boulder City, Nevada. The Tartans played their opening round on the Legacy Golf Club course while carding a six-under par 282 and are currently tied for sixth. The Tartans tied for the best team score at the Legacy Golf Club on Tuesday with every team ahead of them playing at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

How it Happened:

  • Sophomore David Zhang and freshman Ryan Dannegger led the Tartans in the opening round both carding a three-under par 69 and are tied for 14th individually in a field of 221 golfers.
  • Senior Brian Xu and junior Justin Chan each end play on Tuesday with an even round of par 72.
  • Sophomore Jay Saluja fired a 75.

Up Next:

  • Play resumes Wednesday, May 15, as the Tartans will play the Boulder Creek Golf Club. Saluja with be the first Tartan to tee off, as his tee time is set for 12:05 p.m. PT. Following Thursday's round, the field will be cut to 18 teams and the top six individuals. The final two days of action will take place on the Boulder Creek Golf Club course.
