Tartans Make Cut at 2024 NCAA Championship

(BOULDER CITY, Nev.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday in Boulder City, Nevada. The Tartans carded a one-under par 287 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club and have a 36-hole score of 569 (282-287) which places the Cardinal and Gray fourth in a field of 43 teams which advances them to rounds three and four of the championship. Following play on Wednesday, the field was cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams.

How it Happened:

  • Following his round of one-under par 71 on Wednesday, sophomore David Zhang leads the Tartans with a 140 (69-71) and is tied for seventh individually in a field of 221 golfers.
  • Senior Brian Xu and junior Justin Chan also carded rounds of one-under par 71 in round two and the two have a 36-hole score of 143 (72-71) and are tied for 20th.
  • Sophomore Jay Saluja fired a two-over par 74 and has a 149 (75-74).
  • Freshman Ryan Dannegger fired a 75 Wednesday and has a 36-hole score of 144 (69-75).
