Chan and Zhang Named PING All-Region

(PENFIELD, N.Y.) – Senior Justin Chan and junior David Zhang of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team have been recognized for their play on the course this season by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), as they were named to the 2025 PING Region 5 team. It marks the fourth straight honor for Chan and third for Zhang. It is also the seventh straight season that multiple Tartans have received the accolade in one season.

Chan, the top ranked golfer in the region and third national, leads the Tartans with a scoring average of 71.1 over 23 rounds played. The senior tied his collegiate-best round of six-under par 66 at the Flower City Preview where he placed third individually in a field of 90 golfers. Chan recorded his first collegiate individual medalist honor at the Golfweek October Classic after he carded a 54-hole score of 11-under par 202. He has recorded 17 rounds of even par or better this season.

Zhang has competed in all 23 rounds for the Tartans and has a scoring average of 72.8, which ranks second on the team. He carded three-under on two occasions this season for his season-low round. The first was at the Gate City in the fall and the other was this spring at the Capitol City Classic. Zhang has recorded 15 rounds of even par or better this season.
