Justin Chan Repeats as Division III Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award

Senior Justin Chan (Surrey, England) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team has been recognized as the 2025 Division III recipient of the Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award presented by FlightScope, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) in partnership with FlightScope. The award is given to five outstanding collegiate golfers from outside the United States, one each for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA and NJCAA. Chan was also the recipient of the inaugural NCAA Division III Gary Player International Golfer of the Year Award presented by FlightScope in 2024.

Senior Just Chan and freshman Leonardo Vieira of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team have been named to the Division III PING All-American Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Chan repeated as a first team member while Vieira was named to the honorable mention squad. In addition, head coach Dan Rodgers was named the 2025 Golf Pride Grips Region V Coach of the Year.

Tartans Impress Once Again in Classroom During Spring Semester

It was a terrific spring semester for Carnegie Mellon Athletics, as nine teams earned NCAA Championship appearances during the winter and spring seasons—while Tartans continued to shine in the classroom. An impressive 147 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, and nearly two-thirds posted a GPA of 3.50 or higher, exemplifying the department’s commitment to excellence on and off the field.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team capped off a strong showing at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships with a fifth-place finish out of 43 teams. The four-day tournament was held at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York. The Tartans posted a final-round score of 291, bringing their 72-hole total to 1,185 (298-300-296-291), finishing at +33.

Senior Justin Chan along with freshman Leonardo Vieira of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team have been recognized by University Athletic Association (UAA) as Golfer of the Year and Rookie of the Year, as voted on by the association coaches. Chan along with junior David Zhang also landed a spot on the first team.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team recorded an eight-over par 296 in the third round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York. At the conclusion of the third round, the Tartans stood in fifth place with a team score of 894 (298–300–296) (+30) in a field of 43 teams heading into the final round. Due to the inclement weather forecast for Friday, the fourth and final round commenced immediately after the completion of Thursday’s third round. The Tartans completed holes 11 through 13 and are at +33 for the championship before play was halted due to darkness.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team continued its run at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship on Wednesday, competing in the second round at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York. The Tartans posted a team score of 300 (+12), bringing their 36-hole total to 598 (+22), and currently sit in fourth place out of 43 teams heading into Thursday’s third round. Following the second round, the field was cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on advancing teams. The final two rounds will be held at Midvale Country Club.

Senior Justin Chan of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been named by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a finalist for the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award for the second consecutive year. The Nicklaus Award recognizes the top players at the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team kicked off competition at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday in Victor, New York. The Tartans played their opening round at Cobblestone Creek Country Club, posting a team score of 298 (+10) to sit in a tie for eighth place out of 43 teams.

Senior Justin Chan and junior David Zhang of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team have been recognized for their play on the course this season by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), as they were named to the 2025 PING Region 5 team. It marks the fourth straight honor for Chan and third for Zhang. It is also the seventh straight season that multiple Tartans have received the accolade in one season.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships. The championships will be held May 20-23 at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York. St. John Fisher University and Rochester NY Sports Commission will be hosting the four-day event. In addition to Midvale, first and second round competition will be played simultaneously at Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, New York.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team finished the Kravetz Invitational, hosted by the University of Rochester, on Saturday, and placed second in a field of six teams. In the opening round, which was played at the par-72 Irondequoit Country Club, the Tartans carded a 299 and then followed with a 282 on Saturday at the par-71 Oak Hill Country Club for a 36-hole score of 581.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the Capitol City Classic on Monday and Tuesday at the RTJ Golf Trail at Capitol Hill and recorded a team score of 581 (289-292). The Tartans placed sixth in a field of 18 teams.
