Tartans Open Play at 2025 NCAA Championship

(VICTOR, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team kicked off competition at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday in Victor, New York. The Tartans played their opening round at Cobblestone Creek Country Club, posting a team score of 298 (+10) to sit in a tie for eighth place out of 43 teams.

How it Happened:
- Freshman Andy Yu entered the clubhouse on Tuesday with a one-over par 73 to lead the Tartans and is tied for 17th individually in a field of 225 golfers
- Senior Justin Chan carded a two-over par 74 in the opening round.
- Freshman Leonardo Vieira fired a three-over par 75.
- Sophomore Ryan Dannegger shot a 76 on Tuesday.
- Junior David Zhang ended play in round one with an 82.
Up Next:
- Play continues on Wednesday, May 21, as the Tartans will play at Midvale Country Club. Due to forecasted rain, a shotgun start is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on both courses. Following Wednesday's round, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on advancing teams. The final two rounds will be played at Midvale Country Club.
