Tartans Score Three in Win at Washington & Jefferson

(WASHINGTON, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team is on a four-game win streak thanks to a 3-0 win at Washington & Jefferson College Wednesday evening. The Tartans are now 6-1 on the year while the Presidents drop to even at 3-3.

Senior Max Tassano (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) opened the scoring for the Tartans in the 18th minute with his second goal of the season. Tassano was able to fire a shot past Jon Best after senior co-captain Ben Bryant (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) put a pass across the front of the box.

The Tartans peppered the Presidents net all game putting a total of 15 shots on goal as Best made six saves in the first period.

In the second half, senior Chris Wysocki (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) extended his team-leading point total to nine with back-to-back goals. Wysocki's first strike came in the 74th minute when he headed in a free kick by Bryant. About six minutes later, the senior forward scored again with a shot to the far post off a feed from senior midfielder Mike Ferraco (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills).

Carnegie Mellon's senior keeper Christopher Madden (Reisterstown, Md./Calvert Hall) made two saves, recording his fourth win of the year and fourth shutout. Both of his saves came in the second period.

The Tartans will return home for a three game home stand over the next three Saturday's, starting action on Saturday, September 21 versus Bethany College. The match is schedule to start at 1:00 p.m.
