Lam and Masciopinto Named UAA Men’s Soccer Athletes of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshmen Alec Lam (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) and Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team swept the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week awards following the Tartans' two UAA road victories over the weekend.
    
Lam was named Defensive Athlete of the Week for his stellar play in goal.  Lam earned his first career victory and shutout in the two road victories. He entered the game against #11 Washington University in the 39th minute with the Tartans down 1-0. He went on to shutout out the Bears, making six saves, as the Tartans rallied for a 3-1 win and key victory in UAA play. Lam returned to the field on Sunday and made six saves to earn his first career shutout against the Maroons. Lam did not relinquish a goal in 141 minutes of action.

Masciopinto assisted on two goals and scored another out west. On Friday, Masciopinto assisted on the game-winning goal at Washington before assisting on the third which helped secure the win with 11 minutes to play in the game. On Sunday, the freshman's fourth goal of the season went down as the game winner in a 1-0 win at Chicago    
    
The Tartans close out the regular season on Saturday, November 7 when they travel to Case Western Reserve University for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
